Ikiru (1952)

76 An office worker tries to give his life meaning when he finds out he is dying. The film details his emotional journey towards leaving a hard-earned legacy. This is on a lot of critics’ lists of the best films of all time, which puzzles me. Akira Kurosawa is one of my favourite directors, but I found this slow-paced and awkwardly structured. By turns heart-warming, chaotic, repetitive, and dull.
