My first memory of going to the States is when my parents drove my family to Disney World, Florida in the late seventies (in a Winnebago!). I was very young, and my memory of the road we travelled is a bit hazy, so I might’ve gotten some states wrong. But I asked my dad a few questions about the trip, and even as a child I was very interested in cities and states, so some names stuck in my head. I think we crossed the border at Sault-Ste-Marie on the way down and took the 75 all the way to Florida via Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Georgia. On the way back we drove through Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, and Michigan, re-entering Canada via Detroit.
In 2001 I flew to Los Angeles, California to visit someone.
In 2002 I flew to Chicago, Illinois to visit someone.
In 2003 I flew to Boston, Massachusetts to visit someones.
In 2004, some friends took me on a road trip to New York, New York, via Pennsylvania.
In 2006 I flew to Vancouver, and my host drove us down to Washington state.
In 2008 I flew down to Atlanta, Georgia and visited people there and in Birmingham, Alabama.
In 2011, Dan and I flew to San Francisco, then took a road trip that included Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico.
I’m planning road trips that will take me through every State, so I’ll be seeing some of these again (cause I haven’t driven in them yet).
