Super 8

Super 8 (2011)

81 In 1979, some kids witness a mysterious train wreck, after which strange things begin to occur in their town.

Science fiction adventure borrows a lot from Steven Spielberg films such as E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind in terms of style and content, so it doesn’t feel entirely fresh, but it comes by its thrills honestly. The script could have used some work – exposition is doled out clumsily, and there are a few too many contrivances. But it’s well acted and solidly entertaining.
