Black Swan

Black Swan (2010)

A ballet dancer is cast as the Swan Queen but seems to have trouble bringing the darker half of the role to life… at first.

This movie is a veritable buffet of Things Claude Likes: dark, creepy tone, operatic emotions, twisted parent-child relationship, obsession, blood, shifting reality, physical manifestations of inner turmoil, etc. But whereas director Darren Aronofsky’s Requiem For A Dream orchestrated the same elements beautifully, here something seems to be a bit off in the pacing, and it prevents the movie from truly soaring. Still, recommended to anyone who enjoys the components I list above. Natalie Portman embodies the role perfectly.
